Square Roots Hopenlager Release Party!
Join us on Thursday, July 10 for our Square Roots Hopfenlager Release Party—a free, all-day celebration from 12–10pm. Earlier this year, we got together with members of the Lincoln Square community to collaboratively brew this beer exclusively for this weekend’s Square Roots Fest!

Indonesian-style Beer Service
This weekend, order your Dovetail Helles the Indonesian way—poured over ice. Called bir es, it’s how millions across Southeast Asia enjoy their beer: cold, crisp, and perfect for hot days and spicy food. And we’re serving it alongside the bold menu of Bumbu Roux, a food truck that blends Indonesian and Creole flavors.

Bumbu Roux Pop-Up
Bumbu Roux is a unique culinary venture by chef Chris Reed, blending his Indonesian and Creole heritage into a harmonious menu, with the likes of the pork sambal po’boy and seafood gumbo. We welcome them to the taproom for for a weekend of pop-ups and Indonesian-style “ice beer” service!
BREWERY TOUR
Each 90-minute-ish brewery tour includes three .3L beers (that’s nearly a liter of beer!) and insight into our traditional brewing processes. You will get to participate in a water tasting (bet you didn’t see that coming!), a hop rubbing, and malt tasting, while exploring the unique features in our brewery, including (spoilers!) our coolship and 115-year-old copper kettle from Weihenstephaner (that’s the oldest brewery in the world).

Music Bingo with Ben
Every other Wednesday, or thereabouts, our taproom manager Ben hosts Music Bingo from 6-8pm. The premise is fun and simple—each round is variations of a theme, and you must match snippets of songs to your squares. Say, for example, the theme is Umlauts. You better brush up on your Björk, Mötorhead, and Blue Öyster Cult.

Chicago Not Dogs joins us to serve their creative, plant-based twists on classic Chicago dishes like hot dogs (natch) and their own brand of Chicago-style Italian beef sandwhiches they call Italian Bēf. Tested for over a year with delicious results!

Franconian DAY
In our biergarten on Sunday, July 20, we’ll showcase the beers we make that reflect this region of Germany—Rauchbier and Lager. Rauchbier, of course, being the famous, smokey beer of Bamberg.
Also at our Franconian Beer Hall, we’ll also showcase a couple of the region's delicacies with our friends at Beard and Belly: The Coburger Bratwurst and the Bamberg-style onion.
Sip n Stitch
Our bartender and tour guide Liz is also co-owner of Cogs Cycles and Yarns, a very cool bike-slash-knitting store on the Northwest side.
Once a month, Liz is brings her expertise in knitting to the taproom, and hosts a Sip and Stitch! Get cozy, bring a project and hang out with other knitters (and get 15% off your tab).

BAD JOHNNY'S x DOVETAIL Flammkuchen Party!
Our longtime pal and pizza wiz Bad Johnny is rolling up to the taproom with his wood-fired oven for a special collaboration: Flammkuchen!
What the heck is Flammkuchen? It’s a thin, crispy flatbread from the Alsace region, traditionally topped with crème fraîche, onions, and bacon. Delicious, right? For this collab, we’re giving it a Dovetail twist—the dough is made using Hagen’s sourdough starter, fermented with Dovetail’s own spontaneously-fermented beer. We’ll also be pouring some Flammkuchen-friendly beer specials!

Houseplant Workshop with Uncommon Plant Guy
Love plants and need an excuse to make some plans? Join the Uncommon Plant Guy at our taproom for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to make your own kokedama—a beautiful Japanese moss ball planter. A Chicago-based magician and “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” alum, Brielle is helping revive tavern magic, a close-up style born right here in Chicago, with performances at spots like Beard & Belly and Long Room.
