Frühschoppen with Irene's Finer Diner

Join us for a Frühschoppen with Irene’s Finer Diner, and help them rebuild after a fire!

Our North Center neighbors, Irene’s Finer Diner, suffered a fire in May. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but their restaurant has been closed indefinitely while they rebuild. Neighborhood old-timers may remember the Irene’s space as the diner Alps East that closed in 2012. In 2022, the son of the husband and wife who owned and operated Alps East returned to the site to continue the family business and opened Irene’s, named after his mom.

Petros and his team are determined to reopen after the fire, and they have been poppin’ up at farmer’s markets with Irene’s favorites in the meantime. We’re happy to host Irene’s for a Frühschoppen this Sunday—where they’ll serve a brunch menu featuring biscuits and gravy, avocado taost, bagel sandwiches, pastries, a fall salad, overnight oats and more.

What the heck is a Frühschoppen? A Frühschoppen is the German tradition of drinking beer before noon, accompanied by a light lunch and usually on Sundays—our kind of brunch! The term "Frühschoppen" comes from "früh," meaning early, and "schoppen," referring to a half-liter glass of beer. So, come have an early half-liter with us as we open the taproom early at 10am for this special event.
